Be contagious
Humble, spirit-filled leadership is contagious; it invites you to follow and compels you to serve. Recently, our church leadership has experienced revival; pure, unadulterated spiritual renewal. And it all began with our pastor. Several months ago Pastor Lon Solomon shared with the congregation that he'd been under the conviction of the Holy Spirit with regards to Revelation 2:4-5a: Jesus told the church in Ephesus "I have this complaint against you. You don't love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen from your first love! Turn back to me again and work as you did at first." God had called him to take this verse seriously and address areas in his heart and life that qualified for the conviction it held.
Well, this began to produce heart-change in him which in turn caused the leadership of the church to follow. And as the leadership experienced renewal over their pastor's passion, their passion began to trickle down into the lives of those of us who volunteer. Consequently, our service to the church - and ultimately to the Lord - began to change as well.
The obvious point here is that spirit-filled leaders create spirit-filled followers.
Who follows you? Your children, your employees, your committee? Whoever it is, let he or she come in contact with a person whose life has been touched and motivated by the divine hand of God Almighty. I promise, it'll rub off on 'em.
